Method:
Use Adobe Acrobat to complete the provided table by researching the current exchange rates for the listed countries. Once the research is complete, follow the directions for Activity 2 in your book on pg. 202.

Turn In:

Use the following tutorial on Pluralsight to revisit some of the animation techniques and principles that you have previously covered. It will cover keyframing, the Dope Sheet, and working with the graph editor.

Copy the project files from Q:\Animations\Advanced Animations\Maya Project Files\Quickstart\…_Volume 1 to your H:\ drive. Log in to your pluralsight account and navigate to the “Quick Start to Animation in Maya: Volume 1″ course.

Have course finished by Wednesday, September 12.

Objective:
Develop research, writing, and communication skills by identifying a video game released prior to December 1989 and creating a written report and developing a presentation over the requested information.

Method:
Select and research any game released before the year 1990. Develop an oral presentation and written report about the game.

Make sure to get instructor approval on the game you decide to research.

Submit your typed report to the Video Game Design course on Schoology and be ready to give your presentation in class on Friday, Sep. 07.

Objective:
Review the elements and principles of design and the 12 Principles of Animation.

Method:
Work through teacher led discussion over the eight elements and eight principles of design and discuss how the impact animation. Identify and act out the 12 principles of animation.

Turn In:
The students will take notes and create a blog post. Define each element and principle, give a graphical representation of each and explain the example you chose.
Create a new post on your blog that contains a definition, video example, and explanation of how the video clip you chose represents each of the 12 principles of animation.

Due by the end of class on Friday, September 07.

Objective:
Assess the knowledge gained in Microsoft Word.

Method:
Login to your schoology account and take the ‘Microsoft Word Quiz’ found in the materials section of the PIT course.

Objective:
Discuss and engage in the academic pursuit of comprehending many of the different methods for designing and developing video games and other interactive mediums.

Method:
Work through teacher led discussion over some of the different commonly used methodologies employed throughout the game design and software development industries. Students will take notes, read the MDA framework and post their analysis of that specific proposition.

Turn In:
Create a post on your blog that discusses your thoughts on the MDA Framework and whether you think it would make for a good model to use in game development.

Objective:
Identify and discuss the multiple styles of animation and how they impact society.

Method:
Teacher led presentation over the types of animation and how it is used in numerous industries.

Turn In:
Select a career that you are interested in and assemble a presentation showing how animation has effected that industry and how it is currently (or how it could be) used to further the industry. You will have two days in class to research and prepare your presentation. You will present your findings on Friday, August 31.
