Objective:
Identify and research key moments in the development of technology and the computer age.

Method:
This project will be done online using www.canva.com. This Computer History Timeline(2018) will give you all of the requirements and rubric for the assignment.

Turn In:
You will have through Wednesday in class to work on this project. Once you finish the project, export it as a PDF file from Canva and upload it to your shared google folder.

Objective:
Continue working on developing your modeling skills in Maya.

Method:
Follow the linked tutorial to master the proper steps in modeling a basic low-poly building. This will be an exercise in developing and adding onto the skills that you attained in the last tutorial. We will also begin discussing modeling in this tutorial.

Turn In:
Post daily progress snips to your blog as you work through the videos. Make sure to write brief descriptions for each post that contains which steps, techniques, and tools that you utilized that day.

Objective:
To research key figures and their impacts on the computer industry.

Method:
Your assignment is to select one of the individuals listed on the sheet shared in class to do a research presentation on. The presentation will be in google slides and must be between 5-7 minutes in length MAX. Yes you must include relevant pictures, and bonus points for embedding a short video related to your person. The topics that you cover will vary depending on the person, but the document shared in class has a few things that everyone must cover at the minimum. There are probably other things that you should also address in addition to this list, so do not simply make a slide for each of the listed and expect an A. These are merely guidelines to get you started.

Turn In:
The completed presentation is due by the end of class on Wednesday. The class will present on Thursday and Friday.

Objective:
Apply your skills with MS PowerPoint to create an auto-biographical presentation for the class.

Method:
Use the knowledge and skills that you have received over the last week to demonstrate your understanding of Microsoft PowerPoint. You will create a slide deck containing slide transitions, simplistic animations, and a designed theme about yourself that includes the following information. You will have between 3-5 minutes to give your presentation at the end of the week.

Turn In:
Your finished PowerPoint needs to be added to your google drive folder by the end of the day on Thursday. Make sure to save as LASTNAME_(ASSIGNMENT NAME) into your H: drive, and upload to your shared google drive folder. We will begin presentations in class on Friday.

Objective:
Demonstrate the ability to review and summarize a selected board game; examining intent, form, and functionality.

Method:
Write an Inception Document for the game that you evaluated last week. We reviewed the example document as a class, use your notes to make sure that you include all necessary elements in your document.

We will continue with other forms of documentation this week.

Objective:
Create an original video review of a video game that you have never played before.

Method:
You have been given the greenlight to create a review over one of the many video games that are currently out on the market.

As an individual or as a group of two, you will create a video review over your chosen game. (All game choices must be approved by the instructor.)

This document will walk you through the proper steps of planning and creating your review.

Turn In:
You will submit the game choice to instructor by the end of the first week of the current six weeks and the completed review will be uploaded and presented on the last Tuesday of the current six weeks.

Objective:
Develop skills in rigging character models for animating.

Method:
Use a combination of the following tutorials to develop a good understanding of how to rig characters for animating.

Rigging in Maya

Turn In:
Post image updates of your rig from multiple angles throughout the process of the course.

Objective:
Apply knowledge of tools and techniques in Maya to create a 3D model of a character using reference images.

Method:
We will work through the process of creating a character model of a simple penguin in class. We will learn to import images to use for reference in our project. We will use numerous tools in Maya to create our model.

Turn In:
When finished with your penguin, use the snipping tool to capture multiple images from different angles with your edges visible on the mesh. I want to see your edge flow. Post the images to your blog.

Objective:
work on becoming more familiar and comfortable with modeling tools in Maya

Method:
Follow the below tutorials to master the proper steps in modeling a basic humanoid character.The videos are in an older version of Maya, but most of the tools are the same. In video 3 you will use the bridge tool instead of the append tool to join the fingers to the rest of the hand.

Objective:
Develop a solid understanding of the core features available in Maya and learn its UI and how to navigate within the three-dimensional space.

Method:
Use the “Getting Started with Maya” Unit of this online tutorial to discern the maya UI and gain an understanding of how to navigate the space, create projects, and perform functions using some of Maya’s core tools. Do not work onto the Basic Modeling unit.

Turn In:
Use the snipping tool to captures images of you working along with the video. Explain what you have learned while following along with the tutorial.
