Objective:
All designers need a strong grasp of color theory. It is the one thing that unifies all aspects of design.

Method:
Follow along with the lecture and take notes. After the lecture you will complete and submit the Color Purity/Value assignment and the Color Theory Worksheet.

Turn In:
You will publish one post with both the .png file of your Color Purity & Value assignment and paste below the questions and answers from your Color Theory Worksheet.

Objective:
Learning to use the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator. The pen tool is an invaluable skill for any designer in Illustrator.

Method:
I will go over the techniques at the beginning of class to get you started.

Access the file at the following location.

– Also open the directions for the assignment in the same location (Pen Practice.docx)

Once finished with the assignment, play the game in order to gain more proficiency with the tool.

Turn in:
Save into your illustrator folder as an .AI file. You will submit your .AI file into the folder in the ExamDrop.

Objective:
Identify and define the Elements and Principles of Design.

Method:
Work through teacher led discussion over the eight elements and eight principles of design. The students will take notes and create a blog post. Define each element and principle, give a graphical representation of each and explain the example you chose.

Turn In:
Your post should be complete and published by Wednesday, August 31.

Graphic Design is offered as a dual credit course with Blinn College. Students can earn a total of 6 college credit hours for completing this course.

Objective:
Learning to use the basic shape tools as well as other time saving tools like the Shapebuilder tool.

Method:
Use this tutorial to create a basketball player in your own likeness. You can be creative with your color choices.

Turn in:
Once you finish, save both an uncompressed .AI and a compressed .PNG file into your Illustrator folder and post the .PNG file to your blog with an explanation of the project steps, what tools you used, and what issues you had to overcome. You will also submit your .AI file in to the ExamDrop folder.

Objective:
Time management and organization are key to success in any field of study. Discover ways to help master them in your daily life.

Method:
Work through teacher led discussion over file management and organization. We will discuss the importance of time management and ways to be successful in this class. Students will take notes that can later be used on quiz.

Objective:
Gain an understanding of proper computer ethics and discuss the laws of copyright and fair use as they pertain to Graphic Design.

Method:
Work through teacher led discussion over copyright laws and computer ethics. Students will take notes that can later be used on quiz.

Understand the class procedures and expectations.

Method:
We will discuss the course syllabus, get to know each other through the Information Sheet, and get signed up for the necessary class accounts.
